Default UC @ UT, 2011

Bearcats sign on to play Tennessee in 2011.

Bearcat reaction seems to be mixed. Many are happy about the high-profile game, but disappointed that UC would accept a one-and-done deal without a return game.

Thoughts?

That was my first reaction. Knoxville is like what 3 hours away? Play the game at Paul Brown and boost the local economy a bit.

Based on the reactions I've read, playing a return game at PBS was never an option because UT would just reject the deal and pay someone else $950k to come to Knoxville. I think that UT is of the opinion that UC is in no position to haggle with them. One irritated message boarder noted that Tennessee's main fan page included the sidebar "UT adds Bobcats to 2011 schedule".

Ouch.

In that case, I'd rather have this one game then none. Hopefully that near million dollar payout will keep ticket prices down a bit and get this athletic department out of the black.

I can't wait to go down. It is too bad it's not a home and home, but oh well. If they don't respect us enough to come to us, maybe they won't respect us enough to take the game seriously and we can go in there and get a W. Let's be honest UC is in no position to demand home-and-home deals with teams. But if we want our status to be elevated we have to take what we can get.
