Default Analyst: UC class 'solid'

The Enquirer has posted some new information about the University of Cincinnati Bearcats:

Mick Cronin's second University of Cincinnati recruiting class could be one of the nation's Top 25, according to an analyst for Rivals.com.

The title of this article is misleading. Most articles I've read have this incoming class at 50th or above in the country

Quote:
Hoop Scoop recruiting analyst Clark Francis wasn’t quite as effusive as Meyer about UC’s class.

“It’s not a great recruiting class,” Francis said, “but from the standpoint of filling positions it gives you depth. It gives you guys who can complement great players. It’s giving you a foundation.”

Yeah, Koch opens the article one way, then there's very little to substantiate the "Top 25" claims. Unless they get their hands on that McClain kid, that is.

It is definiely an improvement, though, over last year.

I like the talent they are bringing in and I definately trust Cronin's recruiting judgement. Rankings are nice, but in reality it doesn't matter. Good coaching and the right group of guys who are fundamentally sound will lead to a good team. Just look at your mid-majors every year. How many of them have top-25 recruiting class? How often do you see them giving a run to a team with a top recruiting class? High recruits will just leave school early. These guys could all stick around four years. I'll take my chances with this class. They, along with future recruits, will bring Cincinnati back to elite status. If we get a solid seven-footer too in this class, watch out in a few years.
