the president of the university i graduated from has not called me dumb (note: i'd like a source for what nancy actually said please, and the context before/after this alleged comment), but my alma mater and a group of alums have been in a multi-year long dispute over how scholarships are awarded to students in my field of study. basically we stopped all donations to the school until they change their policy, but we keep it professional and cordial.
in that case i see a department that is churning out smart, yet lesser talented graduates in my field. yeah, they made the dean's list, but they don't know the practical aspects of a career in branding.
so you see, my protest is based on results: should the results change, i'll reconsider my stance. yet in the case of nancy, she gave UC a kick in the ass. and apparently it was one that was sorely needed. since she took over, UC football has become the buzz of the city, and your UC 'cats just won a very respectable victory over bob huggins.
but somehow nancy is still a bitch. i'm a person of principle: i want results from anything i'm invested in. nothing else matters.

Well if you want results from what you are invested in then you better get your caboose to the grocery store and thank our fellow "military baggers" give them a "kick in the ass" so you can get maximum ROI.
The acceleration of athletics has nothing to do with "da bitch", I would argue that the acceleration of athletics is something that sticks her backside everytime she sits down...she has inferred many many times that she is not "athletics" person...obviously clueless as to what fuels most financial contributions she figured it out when "support" went down so now she has flipped quicker than a left winger.
I will have to go dig it out, but somewhere on an archive with the Enquirer or a news channel, maybe even on google has to be a replay or text version of her words. I specifically remember "this move now brings equity to a degree from the University of Cincinnati" at the very speech where Huggs announced he was leaving.
The bitch called me and every other alumn prior to her tenure "worthless".

cheap. seriously, man - let it go.
nancy might not be an athletics person, but does she need to be? it's like the goons that are part of the GOP - like my wife - who won't vote for mitt romney because he's a mormon. same illogic at work here. no, she's not an athletics person, which is why she got someone who is, and he hired two guys who are shaping up winning programs. what is soooooo hard to swallow about that?

Actually, she does make herself a part of athletics. One example is she did what she could last year to get NCAA to allow Adam H. to play. And she spoke at the pep rally before the bowl game in Birmingham. That said, I'm not a supporter of her, but UC athletics are in a better spot now than before she came to UC. Granted things like Varsity Village were initiated before her.

If she had handled the dismissal of Huggin's like she should have (immediately after the DUI), then the program would not have had a three year hiatus with regards to recruiting.
Adam H. would not be on this team if it weren't for NZ.

How did a good UC victory turn into a political debate? I agree with MOM on some of his points. Nancy is not an athletics person, but she did hire the right people to help build our sports programs. When she fired Huggins, I agreed in principle as to why he was being fired. Obviously the timing couldn't have been worse. I was worried at the time that she would let the athletic programs slide because she didn't care about athletics. Time has shown that not to be true. Let her build the university's educational profile and let Thomas, Kelly and Cronin build the athletic profile. I'm happy with the way things turned out. As far as her slighting former graduates I, too, took a little offense to what she said. I don't know the exact quote, but basically she alluded to the fact that the university before the UC21 plan wasn't very respectable and she was going to make it respectable. The words "a degree from the University of Cincinnati will mean something" comes to mind. Something along those lines. I know she didn't mean any disrespect by it, but the words were spoken. I personally have moved on from the whole thing. I'm supporting the product on the field now. I remember the past and love those memories, but I'm enjoyin the present and look forward to the future as well. Huggins is now the enemy.

That is true. What most fans don't realize though is that part of the reason UC is in as bad a shape as it is is because of Huggins. The cupboard was left bare for Cronin, but why was it bare? Certainly firing Huggins at wrong time cost them one year and Kennedy being the interim (and not being able to recruit) cost them another year. But Huggins last three years of recruiting netted this team squat. Remember Roy Bright and Vincent Banks? They should be seniors this year. Banks never got eligible and ended up leaving, Bright dropped his gun on campus and got kicked out. The next year had Hernol Hall and Devan Downey. They should be juniors. Downey at least was eligible to play and got on the floor one year before leaving (granted he left because Huggins and Kennedy were gone). There were some other guys in there too that I can't remember their names that for one reason or another (mostly eligibility issues) that never made it to the floor. After the class of seniors that was Hicks, Mohammed and White only two of Huggins recruits made it to the floor. Downey and the juco Cedric McGowan. There were three years of Huggins recruits that should have been behind these guys. Nancy doesn't need to shoulder all the blame for the position the basketball team was in.

I'm a sophomore at UC, and I was shocked at what I witnessed watching that game Wed. night. What a great win for UC and Mick, but I kinda felt bad for Huggs how much of a blowout it was. Although Huggs made some bad decisions, and he might have plateaued in Clifton as a coach and recruiter, he brought UC to where it is right now, which is in a big-time conference in the Big East. I've been pissed at Nancy Z since Huggs got the pink slip, but now I might tone down my fire. Cronin might be the guy that will lead UC back to national prominence, like Sweet 16's, Elite 8's, Final 4's and National Championships down the road. '08-'09? '09-'10? Just a thought from a young college student starving for witnessing at least one local championship on some level.
