Typical of today's society. It is what have you done for me lately. As you get older or handicaped a lot of people are discarded. The programs say they do so much good but they make it so hard with red tape most people just give up.

That's pretty damn sad when what is publicized as the "greatest show on earth" treats their formers like this...

Hasn't the NFL already given DeMarco a bunch of cash already?

This is shaping up to be a real issue for the NFLPA. People see the older guys on the news hobbling around (literally) and they have no benefits. It's only a matter of time before the levee breaks in terms of public opinion.

He admitted that he lied to the Bengals about the condition of his back. So he's already consciously put $ in front of his health, and now he's complaining.

It's not only him, it's a lot of guys who helped make this league become what it is today.

Agree 100%. Maybe if the NFLPA had hired a professional labor negotiator instead of a "lapdog" who got played by Paul Tagliabue like a fiddle in Gene Upshaw, they would have negotiated better benefits. Like Knox says, DeMarco cashed his checks, didn't he?

What is fnny is most of the people against this would be first in line for benefits if anything happened to them.

Only if I felt I was entitled to them. No company in the USA today provides unlimited, lifetime health insurance benefits to their pensioneers and retirees on the company's dime. Are these ex-players not eligible for disability or Medicare?
