Default Penn State Leapfrogged

I know this will be provocative, but I think the question is legitimate: Did Penn State get leapfrogged by Texas Tech because of the perceived weakness of the Big 10? I would have guessed they were due to move up to #2.

In the Coaches poll and Harris poll Penn State is at #2 and Texas Tech is #3.
In the AP Poll Texas Tech is at #2, but I've read the AP Poll doesn't mean squat to the BCS.

I've been looking for a new BCS poll all night, but haven't seen it yet - have you seen the final standings?

Overall, it's still too early, Texas Tech is just starting to reach the meat of their schedule (Oklahoma St. (9) next week). They'll lose, Alabama will lose, and the only undefeated team (Penn State) will wind up in the championship match, just as they deserve.

Ok, I've found some articles about TT leapfrogging Penn State.

The Associated Press: Texas Tech takes control in BCS standings

FOX Sports on MSN - COLLEGE FOOTBALL - Texas Tech passes Penn State in BCS standings

So it is disappointing, but I still find it hard to believe that both Alabama and Texas Tech will go undefeated. Still too early to be too upset.

I don't have an issue with it. Comparing resumes, I think TTU deserves to be #2. This wouldn't be an issue whatsoever if they had been ahead of PSU all season long. People seem to have an issue whenever a team is "leapfrogged" - as if it was "their turn" to be #2. I don't subscribe to that way of thinking.

I think the perceived weakness of the Big Ten plays into it as much as the perceived strength of the Big 12. Anyone undefeated in the Big 12 to this point probably should be ahead of any undefeated Big Ten team. I think Penn State is in a similar situation to tOSU last year in that they will probably make the title game, but are realistically a top-10 team as opposed to a top-2 team.

No way that both Alabama and TTU go undefeated. And if they do, they deserve to be in the title game.

Penn State is fine.

The real question is....could the relative weakness of Penn State's schedule (only 1 win at end of season vs. top ten team & 2 wins vs top 25 teams) allow a 1-loss Big 12 and a 1-loss SEC team to leapfrog them at the end?
