Default 2 Angry Guys back on the radio on Monday (10/1)

I'm definitely looking forward to this. Anything is a step up from Tim Lewis, in my opinion. I'll be curious to see who 1530's morning show ratings are affected by the 2AGs.

Television

Two Angry Guys Back On The Air Monday

Surprise, surprise: The "Two Angry Guys" return to radio 6-10 a.m. Monday on WFTK-FM (SupertalkFM96.5), after months of rumors.

SupertalkFM96.5 scooped itself, by accidentally posting Richard Skinner and Tom Gamble as part of the new station lineup on its website late Friday afternoon. Supertalk FM 96.5 - The New Generation of Talk

"It was supposed to be a surprise," says Jeff Davis, assistant program director.

Skinner and Gamble, two former Kentucky Post sports staffers, have not worked together for nearly a year. It will be good to hear them together again. It will be good to hear their rants again.

Skinner and Gamble have broadcast together for about 10 years on WBOB-AM and Clear Channel's WSAI-AM and WCKY-AM. Clear Channel broke up the team last November, when Andy Furman was fired as WLW-AM's "SportsTalk" host.

Gamble moved from mornings to take over "SportsTalk" from November to March, when he voluntarily left the show and Clear Channel. Gamble, a full-time teacher at Northern Kentucky University, said he wanted to spend more time with his three young sons and wife.

Skinner, who had continued to do mornings solo on WCKY-AM (HOMER 1530), was fired in May. At the time, Skinner vowed it was "not the end of the 'Two Angry Guys.' "

Adding its first local morning show -- prime time for radio -- should help put SupertalkFM96.5 on the map. Furman has been the first and only local weekday host on the station, Cincinnati's first all-talk FM station.

"Ever since Skinner was fired by Clear Channel in May, we've been getting e-mails saying, 'Bring back the Angry Guys.' There were on morning radio for more than seven years, and people miss them. They were a tradition for many people," Davis says.

Skinner and Gamble replace the low-rated syndicated "Mancow in the Morning" show. Also Monday, Glenn Beck will move back an hour, to 10 p.m.-1 a.m. Dave Ramsey gains an hour, expanding to 1-4 p.m. Conservative Bill O'Reilly loses his afternoon slot, and will be heard on tape 7-9 p.m. Dennis Miller's new nationally syndicated show will air 9 p.m.-midnight.

andy emailed this "scoop" to me last winter during one of our exchanges. is this not common knowledge?

i don't know if many of you follow or contribute to radio-info.com, but there is a cincy board on there i follow and contribute to now and then. since radio is not my primary focus of media right now i just read, and there is a lot of news or misc. info that breaks on that board related to radio. especially then the ratings books are released. consensus right now is that 96.5 will be playing christmas music full-time come thanksgiving. there is virtually no advertising on the station, and furman can't buy a caller lately. i listen now and then, but more for the same reason you slow down for a cop on the side of the road. the 2AGs will be back, but could be for less than 2 months.

What tradition? Throwing up your Corn Flakes in the morning?

And also the single most sought after entity outside of Jim Scott in terms of advertising sales at CC. That does thake time slots into consideration as well. Like them or not, the Angrys, not Lance, not Willie, not Burbank, not McConnell....brought home the bacon with clients. That's a part of their appeal to 96.5. I am glad to see them back, as it sure beats Tim Lewis and Mike & Sub err...Mike & Mike on ESPN.

I am not glad to see them back, but they are better than Tim Lewis.

Amazon was doing the Inside Pitch today, I wish he had his own morning show!

He'd still be here if he hadn't been a walking lawsuit with his sexist rants and way above board, almost porn on the air.

So how has Lance/Fred stayed on the air this long? He was basically "touching himself in the bathing suit area" when Valerie Abati was in studio. It was embarrassing.

I listened to these goofballs today on my 5 minute commute. Same old junk but, GULP, 10x more "entertaining" than Tim Lewis. Tom Gamble said he would boycott the game if the Bengals try to somehow leverage Nick Lachey's celebrity status tonight during the MNF game.

You're right- they're 10x better than Tim Lewis.

And at least Gamble and Skinner are talking sports during their show rather than spending the whole time bashing their former employer like a particular afternoon sports talk show host seems to do on 96.5.

Will they even last to the end of the week?

He better not watch the game because Lachey's already on ESPN Radio this afternoon. What's Nick been doing lately? I feel like I hadn't heard his name since... forever.

i caught a few minutes of it this morning. same nightmare it was before - lots of talking over each other. no humor, and when there was humor it was VERY dated and poorly timed. skinner has to be one of the most oblivious men on the planet. his timing is actually going backwards.

bright side: the station will likely switch formats soon. that, and dennis miller is now on at 9pm every night!
