I think Pittman and Gonzo are/were in tough situations - They are not projected first-round picks now, and it's likely they would not be next year as well. I'm thinking that Gonzo concluded that he could only hurt his stock by returning next year. He'd have an inexperienced QB, he'd likely be covered by the opponent's best DB every game (with Ginn gone), etc.
