Default Ranking the BCS coaches

Hullo, CincinnatiSports.com. Anyone interested in commenting on The Sporting News' rankings of the BCS coaches?

SportingNews.com - College Football - Ranking the BCS coaches

Here are the notables:

1. Pete Carroll, Southern California
2. Jim Tressel, Ohio State
3. Rich Rodriguez, West Virginia
4. Jim Grobe, Wake Forest
5. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma
6. Frank Beamer, Virginia Tech
7. Nick Saban, Alabama
8. Steve Spurrier, South Carolina
9. Dennis Erickson, Arizona State
10. Mack Brown, Texas
12. Urban Meyer, Florida - The Former Bearcat couldn't crack the Top 10 after winning a national championship?
18. Joe Paterno, Penn State - Way too high on this list. All JoPa is good for these days is pooping his pants or being run over on the sideline.
36. Brian Kelly, Cincinnati - 1-0 as the Bearcats head coach, and he's not #44 on this list.
42. Charlie Weis, Notre Dame
44. Mark Dantonio, Michigan State
46. Terry Hoeppner, Indiana - Former Miami of Ohio coach
66. Gene Chizik, Iowa State - Worst coach in the BCS?

Hullo White Magic. Interesting article you have posted.

No doubt Pete Carroll is numero uno, and then in my mind there is a BIG gap between him and the rest of the field.

I wonder what criteria this guy used to rank these guys? Wins? Recruiting? Graduation Rates? Bowl/Big Game victories?

I'm ok with the top ten except for Erickson and Spurrier, these are 2 guys that reached their peaks in the 80s and 90s. I would stick Meyer in place of at least one of them.

Saban needs to be in the top 5.
Props to this guy for putting Weis at 42, although I would probably stick him somewhere in the top 30.

Time will tell if Kelly is a better BCS coach than Dantonio. Hopefully I see a bloodbath later this year in person when Dantonio returns to the Horseshoe as MSU head coach.

33. Greg Schiano, Rutgers

This makes no sense at all. Seems this list is based more on past achievments rather than current coaching abilities and success.
