I agree. I guess I was accustomed to listening to Dan Obie-Won-Obrien on Fred's show back in the day. He never gave a straight answer. But this guy still went too far with his answer. The MLB Players Union is still the strongest union alive and this guy is in charge of a last place team. He will live to regret it.
BTW...Canadian sportstalk must be brutal outside of Hockey season.

Lance is officially obsessed with Bronson Arroyo stats/bashing.
Quote:
Stats of the day
From Mark Wagner
Since Bronson Arroyo's 9-3 start in 2006
Most losses by a pitcher (June 24, 2006 - June 24, 2008):
32 Jose Contreras
31 Barry Zito
30 Bronson Arroyo
30 Carlos Sivla
(Note: The only pitchers with 30+ losses in that span)
Most home runs allowed (June 24, 2006 - June 24, 2008):
66 Bronson Arroyo
66 Jamie Moyer
62 Paul Byrd
61 Aaron Harang
60 Johan Santana
60 Livan Hernandez
(Note: Only pitches to allow 60+ HR's in that span)

How weak was that?
You've got to be kidding me. Bronson Arroyo goes 1 innings and allows 11 hits and 10 runs? Unacceptable. Embarrassing.
Deal him to the Phillies? No way. No how. Who needs a hole in the head? What a total waste of salary over the next 2+ years. They owe him 9.5 million next year, 11 million in '10 and an option for 11 mill or a 2-mill buyout in '11. That is at least 22.5 million owed.
Since June 19, 2006, and a record of 9-3, Arroyo's record is 18-30.

"You have to wonder how much longer you can run Bronson Arroyo out there the way he's pitching. This strategy isn't working when you have the young arms in the system this team has"

Hit the nail on the head.
Yeah WM, you are missing the point of what I said and this thread. One of the things I hate about Lance McCallister is he talks about being classy and the "good old days" yet because he does not like Dunn sees nothing wrong with what Ricciardi did.

Shantyman: I understand the point. I think the counter-argument I've made is that what Ricciardi said was not unprofessional in as much as he was acting as a sports talk radio host when he said it. If Lance's thinking is like mine, he's not necessarily being hypocritical. There's no expectation that a sports talk radio host should sugarcoat things.

More things to hate...
What a piece of shit.
It now seems that McAlister has lost his man-crush on Jay Bruce.
He claims that he is "nonchalant" about approaching balls in the outfield and since he's played the game for so long, has no reason for this to happen.
He invoked the "9-year olds are taught this", proclimation.
Must have gotten snubbed for an autograph recently.

I blame Bruce's new nonchalant play based upon those around him. This is why keeping Dunn was worst thing to happen. By keeping this jackass around, he is poisoning the future of this team.
The kink of the "man on 3rd, 1 out pop fly" is a cancer that needs to be removed ASAP.
If you remove a cancer early enough, it will not spread and may be remedied. If you do not address it, Bruce's future may be just as wasted as Dunn's potential.

I agree, and my response would be, "Wow Lance what a shock - you take off the final day of the trade deadline, and the Reds make a trade".

has anyone else noticed that it is quite rare that people talk about how much they agree with him, or when he accurately has the pulse of the city in his opinions.
why is he employed by CC?
i'm leaning toward pity.

i admit that the circle of guys that listen to lance is probably capped at around 30 or so, from friends to former co-workers. but i've yet to meet someone who agrees or even likes him as a personality. it just strikes me as odd. in chicago sports talk radio, the personalities are generally regarded favorably - even mike north.

More sympathy ratings are being sought by this piece of crap.
Why can't he just let his kid heal and be done with it?
