That is a very touching article.

Most of us think Lance exploits and goes overboard with his children too much. However, unless you have gone through a serious illness or lost a child, most of us do not know how we would react or how it feels.

Lance should cherish every day he has his son. It could have gone the other way. I know. I lost a son ten years ago. He died of an epileptic seizure. I walked into his apartment and found him dead in the middle of the floor. I still miss him every day.

Most of you know what I have gone through in the last two years. Am just glad to wake up every morning.

As I said, most of us think Lance goes overboard, and I do also at times, but think what you would do and how you would react under the same conditions.

If my kid was in the hospital, I sure as hell wouldn't be using his fight for life as a boost to my ratings.

Not too many people lower than that on this planet.

I have said it plenty of times, that kid is more of a man now than Lance ever has been/will be.

Everytime I listen to Lance I just keep thinking that the dude needs to find some buddies his own age. He has no adult male influence in his life. It's all Casey, the Wife (Kelly?), Leave it to Beaver re-runs, etc. I just can't relate to his alternative reality of Pleasantville.

I sort of get the same feeling when I listen to Mike & Mike. They aren't as lame as Lance, but pretty close.

Come to think of it, in all of his years on the air, I have never heard him share a story that involved a "buddy" his age that was not a co-worker or sponsor. You might be on to something there.

I'd just be happy if he (and Mo for that matter) talked about local sports. I'm tired of hearing about church festivals, playing catch with dad, theme songs, and softball games.

Here goes Lance again, telling us what it's like to "be a real sports fan". Good match. Compelling TV. But I could only watch two guys hold serve continuously for so long...

Quote:
How good was that?
I made it a point to watch Federer vs Roddick yesterday morning. It follows my rule, if you consider yourself a sports fan you watch moments like the Wimbledon Final. When it comes to tennis I'm more of a McEnroe, Connors and Borg guy. But I watched every single point with Casey for 4-hours 16-minutes. It was riveting. The 5th set was longer than the entire Serena vs Venus match (which I watched). It was 32-minutes longer than Federer vs Nadal last year, and that match was 14 fewer games!
I started out watching and exercising on my elliptical. I was hollering scoring updates to Kelly from the basement. When I finished I started sending out tweets after a while.
The action was so good I didn't even turn over the the start of the Reds game.
I could not decide who I was rooting for...Federer for the record breaking 15th slam or Roddick as the American underdog. I went back and forth, rooting for it to continue. And reached that point where I didn't want either to lose.
Coolest scene: Pete Sampras walking in with his wife and sitting with Borg and Rod Laver.
The power of the serves was stunning! Roddick wasn't broken until the final game. And Federer had 50 aces!
Roddick's inability to close out the 2nd set and go up 2-0 was a killer.

Here Here. I just wanted that match to end. I guess I am not a * real * sports fan.

Val I don't think people are disputing what he does for that cause...

What they are disgusted by is the complete lack of respect and privacy he shows the rest of the family by airing their every activity and possible though to those that don't really give a damn....

I HATE that I just clicked on the link touting the Crawford dunk on LeBron on Lance's website, and it was that dumb video.

Only he would think that was funny.

Nerdy is the term I would use.

I hate the he claims "every time I go on vacation, something major happens."

Well, of course...you are on vacation at the MLB Trade Deadline. Don't act like that isn't planned.

The vacation list
Once again I'm on vacation and something big happens. This time is was the Scott Rolen trade.
Here is a list of what we've come up with that has happened while I've been on vacation:
*Bob Huggins fired by UC
*Barry Larkin signs 3 yr 27-million dollar deal
*Marge Schott dies
*Skip Prosser dies
*HOMER switches signals from 1360 to 1530
*Reds sign Eric Milton
*UC-UK meet in NCAA tournament
*Ken Griffey Jr traded
*Mick Cronin hired by UC
*Wayne Krivsky hired by Reds
*Scott Rolen aquired in trade

Any others that you remember?
What a d-bag!
