Default Official Things I Hate About Lance McAllister Thread

Lance's Cheap Cliches.
i.e. Any time the Reds beat the Astros:

"Houston... We have a Victory!"

Any time the Reds sweep a series:

"How Sweep it is!"

He still laughs at things that aren't funny... all the time. He's his own cheap laugh track.

I could live the rest of my life without hearing him chant "Rudi! Rudi! Rudi!" everytime he mentions Rudi Johnson.

He lets Mike from Fairfield talk way too long. Lance - Sometimes it's ok to pass on a phone call.

Here, Here!

That's another thing he does that bugs the shit out of me. He gives callers who ramble, contradict themselves, and say all kinds of outland shit, a free pass. Only on the rarest of occassions does he get into it with a caller, and those callers usually have a legitimate point that contradicts his own. (He later apologizes for getting into it with that caller on his blog.)

He's way too afraid of offending people. I guess that's part of his Pleastantville schtick... but what kind of talk radio is that??

Yet one more thing....

Lance is guilty of this, but then again so are most of the talent that appears on 1530: They don't watch their clocks. The jocks on Homer consistantly run over their clock time, resulting in commercial breaks seperated by only 30 seconds of jock time. This usually occurs during the last 10 minutes or so of every housr. Completely amateur.

If he doesn't quite understand/grasp something, he just chastises it. The World Cup is the best example of this. He has no clue what he's talking about, but he goes on to bash it relentlessly. It's one thing to dislike it, but Lance was really ignorant about the whole thing.

Lance's delusional assumption that his listeners are interested in Butler and Murray State basketball.

The most obvious- his completely outmoded way of thinking and desire to have things be "the way they were." Nostalgia is way too important to him. Even his off the beaten path topics (another thing I don't like when they are not sports related) are almost always based on nostalgia. I really don't care if young Lance used to be in love with Cheryl Tiegs.

Also, it is pretty cheap for a married man to constantly talk about other women's looks on air. His wife whould slap his face.

Oh yeah, just remembered this: When he says "WOW" in an amazed fashion in response to things that clearly do not warrant that reaction.

Too much discussion about Casey throwing the first pitch at the Florence Freedom Game and Casey meeting the President and Casey becoming the first kid to walk on the moon...

Too much discussion about shows like 24 and Lost

I won't begrudge him talking about his son. If that's his way of dealing with his son's illness, so be it.

I am sensitive to the illness his son has and approve of his charity work but it seems everytime I listen there is some story about Casey doing something other kids don't get the opportunity to do. I would prefer a Marvin Lewis interview instead.

I HATE the "Woooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww" he drops on everything that is irrelevant as well. This is Lance's way of acknowledging callers while completely ignoring them at the same time.

Lance: "WOOOOOW"
