What is a Terrorist?
In Iraq a person blows up a police station and a military facility. He is called a terrorist.
In the United States a person blows up a police station and a military facility. He is not a terrorist.
At least that is the thinking of Bill Ayres, Obama's family friend as he states in his book, on Good Morning America this morning.
He says it was because it was for something he believed in. Can anyonre tell me the difference in the two? Should he be treated any different ?

I haven't done much research on the guy, but I read about his interview on ABCNews.com today - I'm really confused why this guy is such a well-liked and well-respected fellow among the Big Liberal Elite. I'm curious to see if someone steps up and defends him in this thread.

I believe that is what liberals refer to as a "freedom fighter".

"History is written by the victors."
Obama's Ministry of Truth is hard at work already.

I don't think anyone will defend the Bill Ayers' bombings but I do think that Hannity and people of his ilk are wrong for the things they said about Obama and his associations with the guy. They act like Obama is a card carrying member of the Weather Underground, tricking many people who don't know any better (like the famous bed hair sporting "Obama is an Arab" lady & PokerDude) into thinking Obama is an Islamic Terrorist. Obama is the prez-elect for crying out loud.

Since some think tooooo much is made of his association with Obama, here is another question. If Palin or McCain had the same association with Ayres would it have been played down as much? Could they get away with saying he is just someone in the neighborhood.
They would have blasted it 24 hours a day and had Palin helping him make bombs and him being the father of the baby.
Just because he is the prez elect doesn't mean hands off.

With all due respect - is there anyone in America who doesn't know who William Ayers is? what are you, or guys like Rush Limbaugh, Bill Cunningham or Sean Hannity for that matter, going to accomplish by talking about William Ayers at this point? If you want to join the cause to help impeach Obama (who isn't even President yet) you can sign the petition here: Barack Obama Impeachment
I watched this election very closely and I think it is fair to say Mr Ayers got much more attention than Todd and Sarah Palin's association with the Alaska Independence Party, a secessionist movement: Palin And The Alaska Independence Party - Marc Ambinder
Geee, I wonder how people would react if Barack and Michelle Obama pal'd around with a group that wanted Hawaii or Illinois to secede from our great nation.

I really don't think Ayers was or should have been an issue regarding Obama's ability to run the country. I think it was made pretty clear that Obama isn't exactly inviting Ayers over for dinner on the weekends. They're merely acquaintances. I still think Ayers is a pretty despicable guy and can't understand why he is such a respected figure in the academic community, but I thought he was totally irrelevant to the election - a red herring.

Obama has been a guest in the home of Bill Ayers. Imagine if John McCain had been a guest in the home of Timothy McVeigh. Think that would have gotten a little bit of attention??

Barack could have been a golfing buddy of OJ Simpson, Michael Vick and Charles Manson - he was still going to win this election. The Palin-McCain ticket and associated campaign was just that bad.

How many people did Tim McVeigh's bomb kill? 168.
How many did Ayers kill? 0
It's not exactly the same thing.

In other words, if I don't like the government, it ok for me to try to overthrow the government , bomb government offices and police stations as long as I don't kill someone.
Then in later years say I am still proud of it, call the prez elect a famoly friend and not expect anything to be said about it given the fact the kickoff party for his election was held in my home.
