Limbaugh Vs Obama?
Transcript from Rush's show today
Quote:
But I have an idea. If these guys are so impressed with themselves, and if they are so sure of their correctness, why doesn't President Obama come on my show? We will do a one-on-one debate of ideas and policies. Now, his people in this Politico story, it's on the record. They're claiming they wanted me all along. They wanted me to be the focus of attention. So let's have the debate! I am offering President Obama to come on this program -- without staffers, without a teleprompter, without note cards -- to debate me on the issues. Let's talk about free markets versus government control. Let's talk about nationalizing health care and raising taxes on small business.
Let's talk about the New Deal versus Reaganomics. Let's talk about closing Guantanamo Bay, and let's talk about sending $900 million to Hamas. Let's talk about illegal immigration and the lawlessness on the borders. Let's talk about massive deficits and the destroying of opportunities of future generations. Let's talk about ACORN, community agitators, and the unions that represent the government employees which pour millions of dollars into your campaign, President Obama. Let's talk about your elimination of school choice for minority students in the District of Columbia. Let's talk about your efforts to further reduce domestic drilling and refining of oil. Let's talk about your stock market. By the way, Mr. President, I want to help. Yesterday you said you looked at the stock market as no different than a tracking poll that goes up and down.
|
This is how I see the debate playing out:
Rush: "Trickle Down Rocks... Reaganonmics Rule.... I'm a Free Market Guy... You are Socialist.... Spread the Wealth... Climate Change is a Hoax... Bush Liberated Iraq... Michael J Fox Is a Faker... Black QB's are Frauds... Blah Blah Blah"
ObamaDude: "Rush, You're a god damn fucking idiot."

This debate won't happen...but at the same time, Obama seems like the type of dude that would actually take Rush up on the offer...maybe not on his radio show, though. But in a more neutral setting.

I'd rather see a real conservative, Ron Paul, debate Rush.
Ron Paul Invites Rush Limbaugh To Debate On The Issues | Eyes On The Lies
Quote:
|
“He never said hardly boo against George Bush. He supported all that big spending. Did he complain about George Bush? Did he complain about all those wars that were going on that cause us so much trouble? So that’s the kind of issues that I want to talk about and I will be quite willing to challenge Rush Limbaugh on those issues.”

just curious… did you see his CPAC speech (ron paul)?
he pretty much sums up everything i believe and support as far as politics and govt.
as for rush v. obama… i'd love to see this happen, but rush is not nearly enough to the right for me, personally. i respect him a lot, and have been listening to his show off and on since '94.
franny - you need to understand a few things:
climate change: conservatives believe that Man-Made climate change is a hoax. get your facts right.
black QBs: rush's comments were about sports media wanting a black QB to succeed. critique him on that all you want, but get your facts straight first.

Master - you're spinning. Additionally, your attack in this particular thread is unjustified. In a previous thread you went on and on about Conservatives believing in everything I mentioned, they just don't want government to be involved. Now, 48 hours later you are adding in this detail. Also - it's bad form to inexplicably start debating a topic from a completely different thread.
But it is interesting (if I read your comments correctly) that all conservatives must have the same exact opinion on all topics. "Science be damned! If I believe in less government, I won't believe in the destruction CO2 emissions cause! Grah!" Why is it imperative for a true conservative to believe man does not contribute to climate change?
No wonder Andrew Sullivan has had it with the arrogant "true conservatives." Apparently you aren't allowed to think for yourself!

i didn't bring up the list of things rush would say, in your opinion, which are also what a lot of conservatives believe. i also said that ron paul is the guy i most agree with, and by my saying that, your "point" about conservatives not being allowed to disagree in inane.
it's not a detail to call out the breaking point in the climate change discussion. clearly planet Earth goes through climate change, and clearly things are changing now, but as for why they are changing - that's the point where a lot of (dare i hurt your feelings and say MOST???) of conservatives disagree with the left.
and on a macro level, all of the things i mentioned before and am mentioning now are fodder that would be fair game for a rush v. obama debate, thus making my posts completely in-line with this thread.
i continue to get the sense that you're not used to being disarmed in a conversation and you therefore have to go to the "insult" card. if i want to insult you, i think i have some examples on here of how i go there (before my hiatus), and clearly the points i've made in recent days/weeks have not been in line with what i am known to do as an insult.

No it seems like every post of yours contains "Franny you don't understand" "Franny you just don't get it" "Franny you never had to work hard like me" etc etc. It's PokerDudeish w/o the F bombs.
When was I disarmed?
These debates are easy IMHO. You guys come in here with the Government/People are the root of all Evil core argument and I am already prepared for it. No one has caught me off guard, yet....
Anyway, back to Rush vs Obama!

MoM,
Are you well-versed on Ron Paul's foreign policy stances? I always like what I hear from the guy in public appearances, but I seem to remember the one big criticism of him being his foreign policy plan - which would basically be do get every overseas troop and bring them home and stop caring about the security of other countries.
I'm not saying that's what it is...that's just how I understood it from 3rd party sources. Sounds a bit isolationist. I don't have time to research it right now, and was wondering if you could shed any light.

you have pretty much nailed his stance, one that i agree with completely. ron paul is a libertarian in GOP clothing…loose as it may be. he's very much in-line with the originators of the republican party and most libertarian planks, which is a very small govt. that doesn't interfere in others' business.

I sorta remember O'Reilly taking Paul to task for that on his show a year or two ago. Bill was grilling him about Iran's nuclear ambitions, and Paul literally came across as if he believed "if we leave them alone, they'll leave us alone. We have no right to stop them from accumulating nukes, anyway".
I mean...really? To an extent, I agree with the spirit of the tenets of Libertarianism...but in practice, doesn't that seem a little dangerous?
